Welcome to the Paranormal Update!
Have you ever seen a ghost? Or had a dream about something that later
happened exactly as you'd dreamed it? Have you ever thought of someone
for the first time in years, only to see or hear from that person the
same day?
While some people seem to be born with extraordinary psychic talents,
everyone has a certain degree of psychic ability. But we really don't
know exactly how it works or where it comes from, and scientists have
yet to prove (or disprove) its existence. Ghosts and hauntings, UFOs,
crop circles, reincarnation, spirit guides, strange creatures, time
anomalies and psychic abilities all fall under the umbrella term
"paranormal," which quite simply means "beyond normal."
The elusive nature of proof is part of the appeal of the paranormal,
and there is a universe of strange phenomena to explore. So whether
you're a die-hard skeptic, a true believer, or somewhere in between,
the mysteries endure. And from weird news reports to new personal
accounts, something new appears in the paranormal world every day.
A perfect example is the enduring mystery of the Bermuda Triangle.
There have been many reports of strange events in the Triangle, and
just as many efforts to debunk the idea that there's anything weird
going on. It may seem like old news, but now there's a brand new theory
that might just explain what has been causing ships and planes to
disappear.
The Fog
is a new book co-written by Bruce Gernon, a Florida pilot who lives
near the Bermuda Triangle and has had some very strange experiences
while flying through this legendary area. What would you do if you flew
into a dark cloud column on a sunny day, and were unable to see
anything, even after you should have exited the column? So far, not so
weird--but then what if air traffic controllers told you that there is
no cloud cover, and they had visually sighted your plane--but you still
couldn't see anything? That was just the beginning for Bruce Gernon,
whose frightening real-life encounters led him to learn more about this
seemingly cursed patch of ocean. His years of research have led him to
a fascinating conclusion that posits a rare (but natural) phenomenon
that may explain how things like this really do happen in the Bermuda
Triangle.
In the end, one of my favorite things about paranormal books is that
they're great stories. There's a very personal element to the genre,
and often you can read a first-person account by a normal person caught
up in a paranormal event. On that note, if you love true ghost stories,
be sure to check out the article below by Annie Wilder, who lives in a
haunted house. Until next time, keep your eyes--and your mind--open,
because you never know what you might see tonight!

An excerpt from the article "Ghost House Stories"
by Annie Wilder
Every house that has been lived in has a story to tell. I don't know
exactly how it works, but I believe that the actions and emotions of
past inhabitants-even their beliefs, hopes, and fears-linger in the
places where people once lived. And sometimes, these dormant memories
from the past come alive again.
I live in a house filled with stories, an old Victorian in a
historic Mississippi River town. I like knowing that for over a hundred
years, families have lived here, raising their kids, making meals in
the now antique stove, looking out the same windows that I look out
each day. There's something magical or sentimental or energetically
powerful about this house. My family and I have had many spirit
visitors, odd vivid dreams, and remarkable experiences since moving in.
Old-fashioned spirit sisters from long ago, the ghost of the old man
who lived here before me, the apparition of a grieving woman, these are
some of the spirits who have come back to the place they once called
home-my house now. My Irish family spirits have come by when their help
is needed, with whispered messages of support, positive energy, and
even a sit-down visit from my Irish great grandma's spirit. Some of the
ghosts who have appeared here seem to be just passing through...
