Before the internet, the main method of communication between Pagans and other magickal folk was through newsletters and magazines. One of the best was Circle Network News.  Many of us eagerly awaited for it to regularly appear and read all of the articles—repeatedly. In 1999 it changed its title to Circle Magazine, but ceased publication in 2010.

Now, I’m happy to report that the magazine is back. And there’s great news if your subscription was interrupted by their hiatus. Here is their official announcement:

For more than 30 years, CIRCLE Magazine (originally CIRCLE Network News) has brought you information about Pagan and Nature-based spiritual practice, ideas, stories, poetry, art and more. Over the decades our publication has evolved from a single sheet to today’s lengthy publication.

I am now pleased to inform you that, after a hiatus, CIRCLE Magazine is resuming publication. Issue 112 – Urban Magic is at the printer and will be mailing out to you in February. We are now seeking contributions of writing, artwork and poetry for Issues 113 – Shamanism, 114 – Home & Harvest and 115 – Lineage & Family Tradition. The deadline for submissions for Issue 113 is Friday, March 8th! More deadlines and information on how to submit contributions can be found at http://www.circlesanctuary.org/circle.

I want to thank CIRCLE Magazine’s long-time editor, Rev. Georgette Paxton, for her tremendous work for Circle Sanctuary and CIRCLE Magazine. For more than five years, Georgette has volunteered untold hours of her time to produce the magazine. Georgette plans to continue as an advisor and contributor as we move forward into a new chapter in the publication’s life. Both this publication and our community are far better for her dedication and leadership!

I do want to take a moment to introduce myself as CIRCLE Magazine’s new staff editor. My name is Florence Edwards-Miller, and I have been a volunteer with Circle Sanctuary for several years, including at Pagan Spirit Gathering and on the Strategic Planning Committee. I come to Circle Sanctuary from years working for environmental nonprofit organizations, and I am pleased to bring that experience to serve my faith community and this fantastic publication.

Like so many of you, I treasure CIRCLE Magazine as a teacher, an inspiration and a connection to a beautiful and like-minded community. I have already heard from many of you about the special place that CIRCLE Magazine has in your life and practice. We are very glad to resume publication, and [if you already have a subscription] I do want to assure you that you WILL receive as many upcoming issues as you have paid for. Our subscription model is based on the number of issues sent, not by year – so don’t worry, you don’t have to re-subscribe just because it’s 2013! [But if you aren’t a subscriber, I hope you’ll consider it—DMK]

In the coming months I hope to connect with more readers and hear your stories and ideas. We have some exciting plans in store for CIRCLE Magazine, so be on the lookout for new features in upcoming issues!

Thank you for your support and for being an important part of the CIRCLE Magazine community!

Together we will make magic!

Florence Edwards-Miller
