Transmigration
This article was written by Florence Wagner McClain on May 31, 2002 posted under Past Life Regression There are many misconceptions about reincarnation, and one of the most common is that people reincarnate as animals or insects. This belief is called transmigration. Of the 75% of the world’s population which believe in reincarnation, only a tiny percent believe in transmigration.
Reincarnation is the belief that the soul of man survives death and returns to be born into another physical body—a human body. Past life regression information has failed to support the theory of transmigration.
It would appear that the theory of transmigration evolved from a misunderstanding of ancient allegories and teachings intended to instruct man about his relationship with other forms of life, and his responsibility for all life forms.
The spark of life that animates the cells of our bodies comes from the same Source that gives life to all things. Therefore, we are one with all life. We should develop an attitude of respect for all life, and act in a responsible manner toward all living things.
We are spirits who must have a physical body to inhabit so that we may function in a physical world. Otherwise we are just ghosts. Our physical bodies are composed of colonies of living cells, each performing specific functions and cooperating together to provide an efficient host for our souls. Therefore, we should treat the life forms that make up our body with the care and respect they deserve.
In a similar way, we human beings are cell colonies on the planet. This planet is a living entity and is our host for our periods of reincarnation. We have a responsibility to respect, cherish, heal and renew the Earth in every way possible, because one of the functions of our ‘cell colony’ is meant to be as caretakers of the Earth.
