This is the goal for the Retirement Ritual, and of the Great Work. Think what it is saying—that you can and will establish an actual relationship with your Higher Self. Through this relationship—the knowledge and conversation with your Holy Guardian Angel—you have the opportunity to bring together all the "parts" that are your sub-conscious mind, your personal consciousness (the personality that you think of as yourself) with the super-conscious mind, or Higher Self—into a unified, integrated, Whole Person.

Thus you become a fully conscious, fully awake, whole person in whom lost memories are restored, lost knowledge is regained, your psychic powers developed into usable skills, your magickal abilities energized, and your Divinity awakened.
