Summary of the Golden Dawn Tradition
This article was written by Chic Cicero and Sandra Tabatha Cicero on May 15, 2002 posted under Golden Dawn With most of the Golden Dawn's secret teachings readily available to the public, today's magical students do not have to rely upon initiation into a magical group to insure their spiritual evolution. Many of the Order's most prominent members continue to teach aspiring magicians through the writings they have left behind. The great number of esoteric books and articles available today would have made yesterday's magicians quite envious. A number of relevant books about the Golden Dawn and its teachings are listed below.
Israel Regardie was a voice champion of the idea that a person could initiate him or herself through the various grades of the Order. By study, perseverance, and determination alone, anyone can tap into the magical current represented by the Golden Dawn. There is no monopoly on spiritual growth.
For over a century the Golden Dawn has served as the custodian of the Western Esoteric Tradition. These traditions are alive today because of the original Order members who compiled the teachings and created the rituals. And today, magicians who are performing the rituals, studying the grade work, and passing on their knowledge to a new generation of initiates, are helping to keep the Hermetic Tradition alive and ever expanding. Although the Golden Dawn system of magic in its entirety may not be suitable for everyone, anybody who seeks to learn about magic and spiritual awareness can access the extensive teachings of the Order and certainly find much that is of value to their personal inner growth.
