Andromeda: She was a princess in ancient Greece. In punishment for her mother’s bragging, she was chained to a rock to be a sacrifice to a sea monster. Her future husband, Perseus, saved her. She may have been a pre-Hellenic moon goddess seen as being under attack by the demon of darkness. The myth was so popular it was converted into the legend of St. George and the Dragon.
