Term: Borderland State

An alternative state of consciousness in which the demarcation between ordinary reality and subjective reality disappears, and that which is built in the imagination becomes magickally and psychologically real. The woman partner in Sex Magick becomes the Goddess incarnate.  

The aim of the GBG practice of Dianism is to continue sexual union until trance occurs. This not the trance of hypnosis, or of spiritual or shamanic practices. It's a state characterized by poise and non-movement. The sexual stimulation is felt, but controlled and the focus is on consciousness and not the body. Louis Culling wrote: "A hallucinatory meditation may be achieved, in which one is submerged in spiritual inspiration and aspiration." 

It requires two hours or more "to build up the energized enthusiasm of the Magickal Imagination which gives one's thoughts subjective reality." It should be felt as a "force field" about the couple. Some may even see it as a glowing aura.
