Ya Gotta Love a Lover!

This article was written by Stephanie Clement
posted under Astrology

As an astrologer, I feel love coming on as I write this. All human activity goes in cycles, and it’s time, in 2006, to relish romance, intimacy and love in all its varieties. I confess that my thoughts are weaving back and forth between calendars and romance. After all, the very nature of astrology is to follow the astronomical calendar (ephemeris), and one of the most common questions people ask their astrologer is about romance: When will I meet that perfect person? The connection between our Western astrological calendar and the Chinese calendar is powerfully synchronized to provide as much passion as anyone could want all year long in 2006.

This year we will enter the Year of the Fire Dog in the Chinese calendar on February 17. And what a year for romance it will be! Dogs are loyal, honest and obedient, and Dog people are much the same. Both dogs and Dog people thrive on one-to-one relationships. Have you ever noticed that dogs in your household seem to anchor to one person? I remember as a child that our first dachshund lived to see my younger brother. Even though I was the one who trained Fritz, he yearned to spend time with John. In fact, that dog slept under the covers with him! Our second dachshund was my mother’s dog, no doubt about it.

Dog people are happiest when they bring happiness to others, particularly their mates. They can be stubborn and eccentric, yes. They manage money well and are good leaders too. But Fire Dogs bring that quintessential “zing” to relationships. They are attractive, and they choose to see only attractive people and things. They shun perversity. They dream of a bright future, and yet sometimes stall out in the rush to success. The can be alternately timid and adventurous.

Where love is concerned, Fire Dogs are on a sure and certain course to happiness. They have a broad social circle and they bring lots of fiery energy to love-making. They brighten everyone’s life and warm the hearts of loved ones better than just about anybody. Elvis Presley was a Fire Dog, and he has become a legend! “Love Me Tender” inspired thousands of couples young and old, and still does to this day.

In the Fire Dog year of 2006, you can expect great things in the romance department. The sheer energy of this year will move many reluctant lovers to make that commitment, plan that wedding and re-ignite the fire of love in long-standing intimate relationships. I personally am not so sure about becoming obedient, but I would like to think I can be honest, loyal, cheerful and alive in my relationship with my husband. Perhaps we can all benefit from what the stars have to offer in the way of romantic timing.

Romance 2006

Astrologers might look at a lot of things to explore romance, but the most direct factor we can look at is the dance between Venus and Mars. The feminine and masculine planets are also the planets of attraction and sex, the “Me Tarzan, you Jane” planets of the zodiac. Okay, you say you want to be just a bit more subtle than that? The Fire Dog Year accommodates with a range of romantic inspirations.

01-04-2006 The year starts out with a karmic impulse to find your true love — your soul mate. Many people will suddenly realize that they already have!

01-23-2006 Now you will be thinking in more practical terms. What should we do about Valentine’s Day? A ring, perhaps? A commitment? A lovely dinner at our favorite restaurant, or a vacation at our favorite spot? Venus trine Mars provides the makings of a love affair at any age. Give, receive, share and find your natural rhythm in these three expressions of passion.

02-03-2006 Whatever you have been thinking, now you get down to the business of major planning. Romance seems to move forward on its own. Take a careful look at your chart. Any planet at 16 degrees will be accentuated on this date. Plan for it and use the energy to enhance romance.

03-26-2006 Now that we are well past Valentine’s Day, you wonder, is the zip gone out of the zipper? Not even! Certainly you are thinking about love and sex now! Talk to your partner — it can lead to much more.

04-30-2006 Wow! Another karmic flash from the past! Perhaps your fiery love life is kindling your memory. What seemed complicated last year seems natural now, as if you have been doing it for lifetimes.

05-23-2006 Impact! Your love life challenges you now to keep up — in more ways than one. You need “to experience sensory, emotional and/or material stimulation,” according to Pauline Edward, author of Astrological Crosses in Relationships (p. 44). She says you will focus on as many goals as possible, and that you will expend as much energy as you need to. This means that romance will take a back seat to no area of your life!

06-24-2006 Now get creative! All that fire needs direction, and you have two resources: your intuition and your intellect. Noel Tyl says, “The mind makes sex happen” (p. 136, Astrology of Intimacy, Sexuality & Relationship). How true that statement is! You get the hint that you want this passion to continue? Make some long range plans with your partner. Long-term relationships allow for deepening of emotional and spiritual bonds, and deeper bonds enhance passion — truly.

07-14-2006 Opportunity knocks! Plan another little getaway so the two of you can refresh your spirits together.

08-09-2006 Tensions creep in. You have had seven months to practice getting closer. Now you get to put your psychic and listening skills to work. Pay attention to subtle shifts in your partner’s energy, and be ready to accommodate wavering energy patterns or less congenial moods.

09-03-2006 This is the time to make your love more concrete, more stable. It could mean moving in together, or possibly making significant purchases together.

10-25-2006 Get down, and get serious! The two of you come together in your thinking, feeling and spiritual beliefs like never before. “Great animal magnetism” are words John Townley uses to describe this Venus/Mars moment (p. 298, Composite Charts). He goes on to say that this Venus/Mars connection “puts desire and the ability to fulfill it right in the same spot.” Mark this date on your calendars, everyone!

11-01-2006 Whew! What a year for romance! Take time to offer thanks for a life- and love-changing twelve months!

12-17-2006 This year at mid-winter, whatever way you celebrate, give each other tokens of your love. And remember, you are past the time when more expensive meant better. Spend what you want to, but make this year’s gifts something to remember for years to come.

Looking through a typical tarot deck, you find that human characters in the cards are distinguished by many different kinds of headwear. Tarot artists are limited by how much detail they can fit into such small illustrations, but by drawing people with different hats, crowns, helmets, and other head coverings, they concisely convey information... read this article
