Although we live in the city, we feed a large contingent of birds daily in our driveway. The pigeons and titmouses eat almost anything. My grandmother started this practice some 40 years ago, and I would help her as often as I could.
I had a friend who had lost the bottom half of one leg due to cancer a few years back. On the day that he died, a beautiful white pigeon with one leg, showed up to eat. I had neither seen a white pigeon, nor one with one leg ever before. It stayed just that day.
About a year after that incident, my great-grandmother died, and again, on that day a white pigeon showed up. However, this one had two legs. It also stayed just that day.
About ten years after that incident, my beloved grandmother died. On that day two white pigeons appeared, ate, and left. I have never seen a white pigeon since. I continue feeding the birds in my grandmother’s honor and memory.
