1913 Daily Planetary Guide
This article was written on January 01, 1913 posted under Astrology
Llewellyn George continued issuing this annual along with the even more venerable “Moon Sign Book,” making the practical application of astrological information the keystone of Llewellyn Publications. Llewellyn broke the long tradition of “those who know, keep the knowledge secret.” America was a new land, and a new culture of people learning how to do it, no matter what the subject was. And Americans had faith in their ability to learn and to apply knowledge, and to invent new ways to use their knowledge.
How-to books were, and are, an important part of American culture. Because it was a big land, and a new land, and nearly everyone had to be self-sufficient and self-responsible, books were the resource that enabled those pioneers to go where the opportunities were and to build new farms, new ranches, new businesses, new towns, and new cities, and then to build the railroads and roads to connect them together, and the telegraph lines and phone lines, and then the radio enabling communication to make the nation whole.
