Hi everyone, and welcome to Llewellyn’s second Astro Update Newsletter. My name is Sharon Leah, and last month I wrote about Venus and Jupiter, the planets associated with luck and beneficial things coming into our lives. In that article, I said Lance Armstrong and Martha Stewart have both experienced good fortune as well as serious setbacks. Personal experience informs us that it’s difficult to live “well” if extreme conditions go on for too long, so we need to adjust to keep life in balance.

The perfect cycles of planet to planet and planets through the signs during the coming weeks will activate energies that, if we attune to them, can help us to achieve personal and social balance. The Fall Equinox, on September 22 this year, marks the Sun’s ingress into Libra. It is one of two days – the other being the Spring Equinox in March - when balance is struck between daylight and dark. In the next six days, from September 22 to 28, Jupiter, Mars, and Mercury will also enter Libra. Then, the universe will seem to say, “Hey, pay attention to what I’m showing you!” when the Moon becomes a Full Moon on September 28 (Sun in Libra, Moon in Aries).

Full Moons bring things to light and increase our awareness. What things, you may wonder? Well, Libra and Venus encompass affection, beauty, balance, romance, and partners, as wells as places of amusement, pacifists, peace, profits, loss, safe places, treaties, the throat, and women. (There are more, too!)

The universe will see to it that we adjust toward balance by presenting us with challenges, oppositions, and uncomfortable situations that beg for changes in how we think and act toward one another, and toward our enemies and allies. This will be especially so the weekend of September 25 and 26. Everyone will have different experiences depending on which house Libra rules in their birth chart. Events may be intensified if there are natal planets residing in that house.

Update: On September 15, 2004, with the New Moon in Libra, Martha Stewart asked if she could begin serving her five-month sentence “as soon as possible” because, she said, “I have an intense desire to reclaim my good life and good works.”

An excerpt from MythAstrology
by Raven Kaldera

We tend to think of Aries as a simple, straightforward sign, rather one-dimensional, without much depth. Nothing, however, could be further from the truth. For one thing, Aries combines apparently contradictory archetypes within him: the Innocent Child of springtime and the Warrior of Mars. We will come to the Warrior in a moment, but first we should look at Ra the sun god who lives each day as if it were his whole life, present in the moment. This is one of the gifts of Aries consciousness, especially in the solar placement. Ra also needs to fight daily battles in order to survive and bring light to both worlds, and here we can view the quintessentially Arian trait of courage. This is the energy of the daily battle that one emerges from victorious every time, and awakes fresh to every morning, all demons defeated for the time being. It is part of the Aries fire, and it is sustained by innocence. He does not believe that he can lose or that each day may not be an event to be lived with wonder.
