IN-DEPTH DESCRIPTION
It was the year 1932. A young man named Israel Regardie had been separated from his mentor. Alone, in a foreign land, he wrote the book, The Tree of Life. It caused a furor as it revealed the secrets teachings of magick of that day. Almost seven decades later, the book is being re-released, edited by two Senior Adepts of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Chic and Sandra Tabatha Cicero. Too often, "editors" remove content or change meanings. But that is not the case here. The Ciceros have added: A brief biography of the life of Israel Regardie Extensive notes at the end of each chapter that add information and explain ideas and terms Over 110 illustrations Titles to chapters to better explain their content (in the original they were only numbered) A description on the contents pages of what is in each chapter A glossary to explain uncommon words. A bibliography for further study A complete index to make it easier to find information They left unchanged every word Regardie wrote; adjusted British spellings to American spellings; and carefully and accurately converted obscure Ashkenazic transliterations of Hebrew to the Sephardic ones that are more popular and which Regardie used in his later books. As you can see, even if you have a copy of an earlier edition, you'll want this one just to get all of the additions. This is the edition that will become your constant companion. But why get this book at all? Because Regardie wrote this to be a complete introduction to the theory and practice of magic. This is one of the most lucid descriptions of the subject ever written. Francis King said that it was "the best introduction to practical occultism that has ever been written." The Ciceros have wisely separated the book into two sections. The first they call "preliminaries." In this section Regardie reveals the traditional philosophy of magic and how yoga and magic are two branches of mysticism. He shows that magic is not psychism nor mediumship. Magic is, however, based on the Qabalah, and he gives you a complete introduction to the subject, including humanity's place in the universe, the four worlds, the "astral light," and the nature of the gods, especially the gods of the Egyptians. Part two is about the theory and practice of magic. This part begins with the tools of the magician where you will learn the names of God, the meaning of the altar, lamp, wand, cup, and more. Then you will find out how to vibrate the god names and words of power and the secrets of skrying and astral projection. The book covers the secrets of ancient grimoires and magical evocations well as initiation and group ritual. Also included is a chapter on alchemy and the Mass of the Holy Ghost, which explain the secrets of sex magic. This book is a must for all magicians, beginners and experts alike. |
