Fasting Day for World Peace

Color of the day:  Silver
Incense of the day:  Neroli

Fasting is an act of self-discipline that inspires the body to experience a fight-or-flight hunger response. This gives us a chance to look at and then learn to control the primal aspects of our ego that we typify in esoteric culture as the shadow self. This lesser self responds only to primal sensual needs and physical gratification. To reform the chaos of reactive emotions into spiritual choice is to understand key spiritual themes of self-control. For many, celebrating civil rights and the global peace movement while fasting is one way to honor and empathize with all peoples who struggle for their own sustainable and verdant slice of global prosperity.
Beginning at sunrise, settle yourself before your home altar or shrine, and make your own prayers for peace. Express your hopes and goals for human evolution, and fast throughout the day by drinking only water and eating no food. Try to be mindful of the global consciousness and of our shared global determination to end hunger by promoting pacifism, education, and political mediation as alternatives to war.
