A Candle Storage Blessing

Color of the day:  Gray
Incense of the day:  Hyssop

This is the end of Hanukkah. This holiday celebrates the struggle for religious freedom, something many Pagans can relate to. After nightfall, and following Shabbat, Jewish families recite blessings, light eight candles in the menorah, and recite Havdalah.
Now is a good time to think about how you store your candles intended for magical and spiritual purposes. The best container for them is a wooden box, such as a cigar box. Paint, carve, or otherwise decorate your box with symbols of protection and fire, like a pentagram or dragon's eye. Whenever you put away your candles, trace a pentagram over the lid of the box with your finger. Then say:

"Creatures of fire, now sleep tight
Until I have need of your light."

Keep the box of candles in a cool, dark place. Don't store them in the refrigerator or freezer. A closet is usually ideal.
