Author Of Fierce Woman

An Interview with Rhoda Jordan Shapiro

1. Your new book is Fierce Woman: Wake Up Your Badass Self. What inspired you to write the book?

Honestly, what initially inspired me was working with women during a monthly virtual women's circle that I was leading several years ago. The women in it were just so present, so strong, and so motivated. It was amazing to see them transform and grow. Women need nurturing and safe spaces to be able to align to their true power and understand who they are. And once they have that strong foundation, the possibilities in their lives expand tremendously. And so through my book, I wanted to help provide that strong foundation for women who are seeking to reach their true potential.

2. How would you define our "badass" selves?

Our badass self is the self who doesn't need to apologize for who they are. It's the self that is brave and fierce enough to forge her own path in life. It's the self that has no time to entertain naysayers, doubts, and fears. It's the self who is alignment to that inner goddess, who lives from a place of deep love, joy, and vibrancy.

3. Fierce Woman is geared toward women, as the title indicates. Why do you think women are in such need of power and affirmation, especially in today's society?

In the world today, women simply aren't being seen for what they truly are. We receive messages every day that are so disempowering. We're told we're not strong enough, good enough, capable enough, smart enough. We're told what we should look like, act like, be like. We've been cut off from what it truly means to be a woman, what it truly means to be in touch with our power, our pleasure, and our passion. And so women need to be reminded that, yes, they are worthy and capable; and there is absolutely no limit to what they can do.

4. The book contains a multitude of exercises, rituals, and affirmations for inspiration and empowerment. Do readers need any previous knowledge to employ these?

No, not at all. Any reader can jump right in and benefit from exploring these pages!

5. What do you hope readers will take away from Fierce Woman?

I hope that, after reading the book, readers understand just how sacred, whole, and complete they truly are. I feel as if we are living in a culture that constantly feels it is lacking—that's why sometimes we can get so focused on what else we can consume, what can we buy, or what else can we do or experience to give us a sense of wholeness. I want readers to realize that the seeking for outside fulfillment will never work, and that everything they need is within. Once they fully understand that, life becomes quite an adventure.
