1. (“God Is My Strength”) Gabriel, one of the four named archangels in the Hebraic tradition, is the Angel of the Annunciation and God’s main messenger. Gabriel is one of the three angels who are mentioned by name in the Bible. (The others are Michael and Raphael. Raphael figures in The Book of Tobit, part of the Roman Catholic Bible.) Gabriel is the Ruler of the Cherubim and sits on God’s left hand side. It was Gabriel who told the Virgin Mary that she would give birth to Christ. Muslims believe Gabriel, whom they call Djibril, dictated the Koran to Mohammed. Gabriel is the angel of purification, guidance, and prophecy.
