St. Vincent of Saragossa is the patron saint of vintners. He was imprisoned, tortured, and murdered around AD 304 in Valencia, Spain, when he refused to deny his Christianity and allow his sacred texts to be burned. Winemaking is an avocation that is both art and craft, requiring knowledge and patience. Guarding knowledge in books is a way to preserve ancient arts and crafts. Take a look at your life. What aspect of it would benefit from a bit of tender nurturing? Is there anything that needs to be put aside for a while to ferment? Anything that needs a little mixing up? Light a white candle in honor of St. Vincent. Give the neglected areas in your life a bit of tending. In a year's time, look back at your progress and renew projects that were put on the shelf.
