POSTED UNDER Spring, Water

The Drink of Life

Color of the day:  White
Incense of the day:  Lavender

Today is the Fontinalia, sacred to Fontus, the Roman deity of fountains and springs. What might Fontus think of the condition of the water today? The present state of industrial pollution, agricultural runoff, and an enormous island in the Pacific made of old cell phones, shopping bags, and other garbage is hardly a fitting honor for a deity who helps ensure that life continues here! After all, without water to drink, no living being would last long.
Take time today to study your relationship with the element of water-not just the esoteric, abstract meanings, but physical H2O itself. What's your water use like? When you call to the spirits of the west (and water), do your actions outside the circle match your respect for them in ritual? How might you honor Fontus and his allies today, tomorrow, and every day after?
