Celtic Prayer for Ritual Bathing of a Child

Color of the day:  Topaz
Incense of the day:  Honeysuckle

This lovely traditional prayer was used in a folk ritual to bless a child. It could be used at home with a vessel of consecrated water, or done at the edge of a shallow body of water. The person officiating at the ritual takes small handfuls of water and pours them gently on the child while reciting the following words:
A palmful for your age A palmful for your growth A palmful for your appetite
For your share of the bounty, honey and warm milk
For your share of the feast, with gifts and with tribute
For your share of the treasure, my love and my joy
For your share of palaces, in the courts of kings
For your share of the Summerland, with its goodness and peace
The three palmfuls of the Secret Three
To guard you from every ill The Sacred Three of Blessings
So may it be!
