Poppy Spell

Color of the day:  Scarlet
Incense of the day:  Cinnamon

The poppy is sacred to the Greco-Roman goddess Demeter (Ceres), and I always associate this harvest goddess with this time of year. Here is a spell to ask for her blessing at this time. Arrange a few fresh poppies in a vase, light a golden candle for the goddess, and say:

"The poppy flower is sacred to Demeter and Ceres,
Goddess of the harvest and the mother of Persephone,
Bless me with wisdom and the richness of the earth,
May I be surrounded by health, success and mirth.
I banish all doubts and fears, by the waning Moon
Great Lady bless my spell and please grant me a boon."

Allow the candle to burn out in a safe place. Permit the flowers to work their magic until they begin to fade. Then, neatly return them to nature.
