About now, the Perseids meteor shower will peak, and tonight the sky will be filled with more shooting stars. Once again it's time to "wish upon a star." For centuries the Perseids have inspired magic and legends for numerous civilizations.
There is one thing, however, that most of these magical traditions have in common: a shooting star is a sign of change. So this is a good time to work magic for any change you wish for in your life.
Tonight as you gaze at this cosmic show, hold one wish firmly in your mind. Keep this thought in mind as you sit in your ritual space. Drape your altar with a piece of deep blue fabric, and light one white candle. Extinguish the candle and watch the smoke as it spirals upward. The candle represents the stars, and the smoke symbolizes your wish being carried to the Divine.
