White Lotus Meditation

Color of the day:  White
Incense of the day:  Balsam

Helena Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, died on this date in 1891. Since then, it has been knwon to Theosophists as White Lotus Day, a day to meditate on the spiritual symbolism of the lotus.
To participate in this custom, and to reap its benefits, sit comfortably with your spine straight. Relax your body and breathe naturally as you passively observe your breath moving in and out. When you feel ready, consider a lotus. Think about how it receives its perfect nourishment from the murky depths of a pond or a lake, and how it reaches up toward the light, emerges through the water's surface, and rests there peacefully as a pure, voluptuous bloom. Now, hold the image of the blossom in your mind as you breathe in and out, allowing its peaceful vibration to permeate your awareness. Finally, mentally place this blossom at your heart center, and open your eyes.
