Today is the celebration of Garifuna Settlement Day in Belize, where the Obeah folk religion is prevalent. Like many of the religions from the African continent, the history of Obeah is murky. Misunderstandings and distrust often arise from unfamiliar beliefs. However, that very uncertainty also opens up many possibilities. Those who honor all religions as valid can find the good and positive in any faith.
