The Art of Rest

Color of the day:  Lavender
Incense of the day:  Rosemary

Chances are you've just survived some sort of holiday season, and you're tired. Let's be honest: you're exhausted. It's time for some intentional R&R.
Clear two or three evening hours, and arrange a favorite meal that requires little or no preparation. Begin with a silent walk: no electronics and no iPod, please-just you and the world in silent communion. Be aware of your feet touching the ground with each step, of the sights and sounds around you, of the air moving in and out of your lungs.
When you arrive home, drink a glass of cool water, and visualize it nurturing every cell in your body. Enjoy your dinner, then slip into a hot bath scented with lavender oil or salts. Dry with a soft towel, slip on clean PJs, and relax with a good book, repeating:

"After the day,
Cares slip away.
Quiet blessings o'er me,
The world blessed be."
