Honoring the Heart Protector

A new year is almost here. A dear friend of mine, Ravyn Stanfield, a sister Witch and a talented acupuncturist, taught me about the heart protector (aka the pericardium, the physical organ that surrounds the heart). In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the state of the heart protector is considered integral to overall wellness. To have no boundary around your heart is considered ill-advised; to have a closed heart is just as bad. Sometimes as a cycle comes to an end, we need to check in with our heart. Here is a simple spell to do that.

Ground and center and go for a walk in a place of natural beauty. If people move past you, notice them, make eye contact, and notice your heart. Notice the heart protector and feed it honey-like golden light. Open yourself to plants, trees, animals, birds, insects, fungi, stones, rivers, wind, light, etc. Each time you do this, notice your heart and its protector as well. Feel your grounding cord strongly rooted and firm, and breathe within the web of relationships.
