POSTED UNDER Air, Moon

Nemoralia

Color of the day:  Maroon
Incense of the day:  Cedar

This is the original day of the Roman celebration of Diana, called Nemoralia, or Festival of Torches. There are many roads to approaching Diana’s divine nature. She is protector of maidens, grand midwife, friend of the nymph, guardian of oak, lady of the wilds, mistress of the beasts, and goddess of the moon. Hers is a day of equality, appreciation for nature, and making wishes.

To celebrate this day, begin by washing your hair with a fruity-scented shampoo, then dry it however you prefer. Put on a green dress, and dress your hair with flowers.

Using a Sharpie, write your dreams and wishes on colorful ribbons. Gather fresh fruit, toys, or icons of a mother and child, and a stag.

Take the ribbons and items outside to an oak tree. Lay them out at the base of the tree, as an offering. Read aloud the words on your ribbons, then tie the ribbons to the oak. Sit and reflect on your wishes, hopes, and dreams.
