Atonement Spell

Color of the day:  Yellow
Incense of the day:  Lilac

Today is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement in Hebrew culture, when Jews seek to purify their souls. Atonement (at-one-ment) means to be “at one” with ourselves. In twelve-step programs like AA and NA, the fourth step reads: “We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.”

Today, write your own inventory. List your liabilities and assets. Guilt, shame, remorse, self-pity, resentment, betrayal, fear, and denial have a place on this list, as do honesty, openmindedness, willingness, courage, faith, kindness, generosity, and gratitude.
Look at your list and say:

I see all that I am.

Fold the list in half and say:

At-one-ment. I make peace
with all that I am.

Fold the list again and say:

Atonement. I purify my soul. I see my
self, light and dark. I know who I am.
Going forward I am guided.
I am all that I am.

Place the list on your altar. Be at one with yourself. Grow. Change. Atone.
