I'm going to share with you one of my favorite spells. One of the things I tend to stress about when traveling is finding a parking spot. Even though most of the time I drive a compact car or a minivan, for many of my early years I drove a very large van— which meant that parking, especially in cities, was no easy task.

With the help of some friends who were along for the ride, I learned about the modern goddess Squat, patron deity of parking spots. And she has been a part of my magic-in-motion for decades now.

Here's how to do the spell. You take a breath, adjust your driving position so that you're centered and relaxed, and say:

Squat, Squat, find us a spot!

The incantation is simple and, yes, even a bit silly, but it works! A legal parking spot with enough room for my vehicle in a safe place will appear in my path. It also works when I'm a passenger. Hail Squat!
