Today is National Tartan Day, which celebrates the woolen cloth unique to families and geographic areas of Scotland.

Not of Scottish origin? Or made up of a bunch of different national identities? Celebrate your unique lineage today. You will need:

• Small items that represent your lineage, such as flags, pins, or cultural icons
• A piece of cloth (your family tartan if you have it)
• Ribbon or string

Place the items in the middle of the cloth, then gently pull the corners together and tie them.
