Planning for the upcoming year? I’m involved with several exciting events. I hope you can participate.

Talk With Me on the Witchtalk Blog Radio Program

OJanuary 10, I’ll be on the Witchtalk Blog Radio Program at 1pm PST. I’m told that people will be able to call in with questions, so you’ll have a chance to talk with me. I’m scheduled to be on for 2 hours, so come on by, listen, and let’s chat!

A Special Honor and Lecture

On January 30 I’m being given a very special honor. It’s not common that universities host people such as myself to discuss the topics in which we specialize. Well,  I’m going to be the keynote speaker for the 6th Annual Current Pagan Studies Conference at the Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, CA. The subject of this conference is “Sustainability.” The title of the paper I’m delivering is: “The Similarity and Growth of Neopaganism and Early Judaism, and How that Indicates a Sustainable Neopagan Spirituality for the 21st Century.” I realize that’s a rather ungainly title, but it’s a rather unique presentation (if I do say so myself) that draws some amazing parallels between the experience of the early Jews and current Pagan trends. There are some very radical concepts being presented, including the real purpose and meaning of the famous “Sh’ma” prayer and what is needed to make sure the modern Neopagan movement survives and thrives for centuries to come.

The Pantheacon Convention

On February 12-15 I’ll be giving 3 workshops at Pantheacon in San Jose, CA. This may be the biggest Pagan convention in the U.S. We literally take over an entire hotel. So many people show up that even the nearby hotels fill up. If you want to spend a long weekend with a few thousand of your friends, I would urge you to attend. There are going to be some amazing workshops. I’m currently scheduled to give three:

Psychic Self-Defense: Let’s get back to the basics with one of the most important topics in all of magick, psychic self-defense. In this workshop you’ll learn the signs of real psychic attack and how to deal with such attacks individually and as a group. You’ll also learn how to identify and prevent situations that are misinterpreted as psychic attacks. This information is important for any person on a spiritual path of any kind.

Future Trends For Magick: Since the publication of my Modern Magick, many new paths in magick have developed—and folded just as quickly. In this workshop I’ll be sharing three system that seem to have staying power. The first is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), although most people don’t even realize that it is magickal. You’ll learn a powerful method for using NLP to create your future. The second is the highly controversial Chaos Magick. You’ll learn a banishing and ritual methods. The third is Postmodern magick that unites the previous two for the 21st century. There will be a very special announcement at the end of this workshop.

Sex Magick Rituals: Sexual energy is basic to all humans (and most non-humans). That energy can be harnessed to enhance any magick. In this workshop you’ll learn the basics of rituals, different types of sex magick, how to create your own sex magick rituals, and much more. Primarily practical rather than historical or theoretical.

A Featured Author

During the week of February 22 I’m scheduled to be the featured author on the Pagan Writers Community site. I’ll be talking about about my books and myself. We may have a podcast and more to be scheduled. Use the link on the name to find out about other writers. Let them know who you’d like to see featured, too.

If you come to one of these events, please say hello and let me know that you’re reading this blog.

Starwood 2010

By the way, I’d also like to announce that my friends who put on the Starwood festival are going to be having their 30th annual festival this year. It’s been a camping festival and will last from at least July 6-12 (they may be expanding it this year for the celebration). This is a great event which will attract somewhere around 2,500 people, maybe more. It’s a great place to meet new people. It’s very magickal-friendly and Pagan-friendly, but also goes in a lot of other directions. (think mini-Burning Man). Congratulations to Jeff and all the people at A.C.E. (the event’s sponsor) for reaching this amazing milestone.
