I opened a magazine a few weeks back at random and there in the spread were snowflakes, bows, and gifts, gifts, gifts. Since holiday commercials have been playing since before Halloween (I know, I know, I’m rolling my eyes, too), this was not a surprising reminder of the hustle and bustle that would soon be erupting all around us. While I didn’t particularly appreciate that the Hallmark store in our local mall was decked in red and green by mid-October, I’ll be honest, a part of me liked it a teeny tiny bit (shhhh, I didn’t say that).

So while everyone was still prepping for Halloween I was secretly reading a featured article, “Twenty Under $20,” for early gift ideas. Though I try not to overfeed the holiday materialism monster, I love gift giving when I know I’ve discovered something someone will be excited about. As I ticked down the list I couldn’t really pick anything that fit the unique tastes of my giftees. Even though I would have loved to receive any of the items, that wasn’t quite the goal. Thus, the twenty for $20 failed me. Not to fret! It was still October, after all (*cough*), so I had plenty of time to find those just right items.

To help you avoid the “one size fits all, but doesn’t really fit anyone” tips abounding for the holidays I’ve put together my own twenty under $20, according to individual taste and personality.  Think of the likes, needs,  hopes, and aspirations of your gift recipients and you’re sure to find something that will bring a smile to their faces!
