Well, I’m back after spending a wonderful weekend at the Pagan Unity Festival with about 300+ other people. A great time was had by all. Being a boy from L.A. I wasn’t used to the humidity, but when it rained it cut that out and was a pleasant relief. The lightning made a great show, too.

I’d like to thank the wonderful people who put on PUF and would certainly encourage people to attend in coming years. They put this great sign on my cabin door:

My only disappointment was that Raven and Stephanie Grimassi didn’t make it. Apparently there was mechanical problems with three planes. I gave workshops on the evocation of spirits and psychic self-defence. I also volunteered to stand in for Raven and Stephanie and gave an extra workshop entitled “Tantra: It’s Not What You Think,” where I discussed Tantra as a complete spiritual system.

There were also some great workshops by Edain McCoy, Dorothy Morrison and M.R. Sellars. We “VIPs” (Very Important Pagans?) got to spend some time together and swap stories.

To me, that’s the important thing. Although magickal people are ever more connected via the internet, I believe we still need personal contact. Sure, people loved the workshops, the vendors, the music, the food, and everything else. But for me, most importantly, we got to have time to talk, in person, with each other. We changed from being internet friends to being part of a true family by choice.

Summer and the festival season is almost upon us. I strongly urge you to attend at least one festival this year. Have you had any great experiences at festivals? If so, share them here.

Healing Request

I have been very fortunate to call Isaac Bonewits my friend. He is the author of a classic of magick, Real Magic, and was a driving force behind the modern popularization of Druidism. Unfortunately, he has developed colon cancer. His wife, Phaedra, has reported that he has not responded well to chemotherapy and that nothing short of a miracle will cure him.

To that end, she is asking for our help. On the full moon of May 27, at 9:00 p.m. (your local time—she wants this to be a rolling ritual), please do some form of magick for Isaac. Include repeating this chant several times:

Isaac’s tumors fade away.
Thirty more years with Phae.

Thank you for your healing help. Let’s do whatever the gods allow us to do.
