Most tarot readers have processes or rituals for every aspect of their readings. We all have our favorite ways to shuffle, to prepare for a reading, to closing a reading. I bet a lot of people don’t think about various ways to select the first card laid down in a reading. I never gave it much thought until I started listening to Beyond Worlds where the host, Donnaleigh, often says that when she does readings that she considers the very first card laid down to be the most important one of the reading. I’ve been playing with that idea, testing it to see if I agree. And that led me to thinking about how that card would be selected.
