Are you a booklover longing for a career in publishing? Enjoy working with the media and authors? We're looking for a qualified Publicist to work in our fast-paced, dynamic team environment. Duties include promoting titles to the media, creating relationships with media contacts and booksellers, writing press materials, working with authors, and booking author events.
Qualified applicants must have BA/BS (or equivalent experience) and two years experience working in publishing, public relations or bookselling. Knowledge of New Age and Mind Body Spirit, and paranormal subject area a plus.
This is a great opportunity for a marketing communications specialist who wants to break into the creative field of book publishing.
Primary responsibilities include the development of content for the back cover of books, advertisements, brochures, newsletters, catalogs, direct mail, websites, and other marketing programs.
Applicant qualifications include...
• Bachelors degree in Marketing, Mass Communications, Advertising, or related degree
• Three years of experience in marketing communications
• Demonstrated success in writing a variety of communications with an emphasis in copy writing
• Retail marketing and understanding of body/mind/spirit subject matter a plus
• Superior written and verbal communication skills with an understanding of editing techniques
• Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style, and Associated Press style of writing
