Interns will apply their editorial and/or journalism skill while working closely with members of the acquisitions department in the acquisitions process, which includes updating sales figures to be used in title review consideration, entering and processing contracts, assisting in reading and evaluating manuscripts as well as participating in meetings. All interns assist with administrative support tasks as needed. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain valuable hands-on experience in publishing.
The typical internship requires a commitment of 10 to 15 hours per week through the summer semester. The internship will be scheduled during operating hours—8 a.m. through 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Preference will be given to students who can schedule 3-4 hour shifts. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program.
This is an unpaid internship. Applications will be accepted through mid-June.
This is a unique position requiring one to be proficient in both PC and MAC environments. You will manage a Windows client/server environment, maintain the company networking infrastructure and provide end user support, while also similarly supporting Macintosh users through maintaining MAC computers, InDesign and PhotoShop.
Candidates must have a 2-year degree or 3 years experience working with PCs and Macintosh computers as well as strong organizational ability and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal ability for face-to-face interaction with end users is required. Strong working knowledge of MS Windows, Mac Os X and Exchange Server, PC hardware and TCP/IP networking is required. Oracle database and Linux experience is helpful.
