Today is Mother’s Day, a holiday of nurturing, love, and appreciation. It has been celebrated in many ways across time and cultures. Most involve giving flowers or other gifts to your mother, while others have focused on reconciliation and world peace. A more practical approach is to throw parties to teach parenting skills.

As Pagans, we revere the Goddess in her guise as the Great Mother. Her generosity and fecundity make life possible. Take some time today for a ritual in her honor. Decorate your altar with a floral cloth or spring flowers. Thank the Goddess for the abundance and blessings in your life. Speak to her about your relationship with your mother, and if you are a mother yourself, talk about your relationship(s) with your child(ren) too. Do something to make your home a nurturing place.
