To animists, everything is alive. This includes our homes. Your home is your sacred space, so take a moment today to recognize that it has a spirit all its own.

If you have not already done so, come up with a fitting name for your home, then create a simple altar to the spirit of your home. This can be as simple as a candle upon the mantel or a rock from your yard in the corner of a kitchen counter that you keep an offering bowl upon. It need not be elaborate. I like to keep a bell in this sacred space as well. Ring the bell, light a candle, and declare aloud your home’s new name—and use it often! Be sure to extinguish the candle.
