Spell: Make Your Own Wand

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

A wand can be a powerful tool for magical work. It can focus and direct energy, amplify intention, open and close a sacred or ceremonial space, and more. Many are happy purchasing a pre-made wand, but making your own is extra special.

The classic wand is made of wood, ideally a thick "found branch" from a wooded natural space. Use the length between your elbow point and middle fingertip as a measure. Remove the bark with a pocketknife, sand the branch smooth with sand paper, and then rub with beeswax to smooth and seal.

From this point, use the wand as is or embellish it with any number of additions. Use superglue to embed a crystal in the wand tip. Wrap it with wire, perhaps strung with seed beads. Use a woodburner to inscribe symbols or words. The sky's the limit when personalizing your own wand.

Consecrate your wand by leaving it on your altar through a full lunar cycle and then blessing it with the four elements.
