LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Safekeeping for Secrets

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

If you have a secret or are trying to keep something under wraps until a later date, get a stick of incense and a simple lock. It can be a combination lock or the kind with a key. If you don't have a lock handy, you can use any kind of container that is opaque in color (so you can't see what's inside) and closes tightly.

Light a stick of incense and put it in a holder. As it burns, whisper your secret to the smoke. Now imagine that the smoke contains your secret. Open the lock and hold it in the smoke. Whisper the secret again, then snap the lock shut. The secret is now locked away.

Leave the lock engaged and hide it someplace where it will remain undisturbed until the situation has passed or you're ready to share your secret. At that time, unlock it and save it for future use.

Let the incense safely burn out.
