Incense of the day: Ylang-ylang Eclipse magic has always been dicey at best. Many practitioners warn us away from doing magic on a day when there is an eclipse, but hey, some of us like to gamble with fate . . . so why not try a gambler's spell tonight? On your altar place a picture of Thoth, the Egyptian god of writing, academia, and gambling; a symbol of Mars, Aries' ruler; and either some dice or playing cards. Tell the universe that you will be open to surprises (such as the elusive perfect lottery number combo, perhaps?) and will accept what is given. Mars is, after all, unpredictable, and Thoth in his aspect as Hermes is a bit of a trickster. To acknowledge this you may want to sing the lyrics to a classic gamblers' song such as "Luck Be a Lady Tonight" or "The Gambler." Roll the dice if you've chosen them as your symbol. Did you roll a seven? If so, book a flight to Vegas right now! If, on the other hand, you pick at random the Queen of Hearts, then Lady Luck smiles on you. Remember, however, never to bet more than you can afford to lose. |
