LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Remnants Ritual

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Color of the day: Blue
Incense of the day: Pine

The year is ending and the harvest is nearly done. We are surrounded by remnants of projects that prey on our minds as half-finished spectres. Our anxiety over this creates crises and endangers the completion of the harvest. To tie up loose ends and finish the harvest, find a piece of loosely woven cloth, such as burlap or linen, in a color reminiscent of fall. Decorate the center of the cloth with symbols of the craft and of harvest. Then pull threads from the two raw edges to make a fringe. When the fringe is long enough on both sides, make knots in the fringe, envisioning your anxieties being blocked. With each knot, chant: "This knot is tied and harvest survives." Use the cloth at Samhain to celebrate the ending of the old and the beginning of the new.
