Since the fourteenth century, people have bought a new pair of shoes today for good luck and prosperity for the year. Why not give it a try? Before you wear your new pair, sprinkle a tiny bit of ginger powder inside the shoes. Be sure they are on the floor and not on the table when you sprinkle, as that will bring bad luck to the household. Slip your feet into the shoes, stand on your tiptoes, and say: Saint Crispin, grant me a boon: Good luck and plenty, from October this to October next. |
