It's one of the last weeks of summer, and many will be returning from vacations, heading off to college, or off seeking one last summer adventure. Many cultures, not the least of which are the ancient Celts and the American Indians of the Plains, revered the horse as an animal of power, whose willingness to convey us, fight with us, plow our fields, and pull our loads changed history.
