Spell: Wishing Star Smash

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Star anise is an affordable and common herb that smells like black licorice. The whole seedpods, which can be bought at many grocery stores, are shaped like stars, and within each point of the star is a seed. For this spell, think of these seeds as representing potential, hope, and growth.

Select a pod that is symmetrical and has its seeds intact. Get a hammer and find a hard surface such as a concrete floor.

Think of a wish that you can put into one bold, simple sentence.

Place the star on the hard surface and imagine that it is glowing with the power of your wish just as the stars glow in the sky. Say or think your wish, and smash the star with the hammer, releasing all its power and potential with a bang. The seedpod will burst, releasing your wish into the universe.

If possible, sprinkle the remains outdoors beneath the starry night sky, and think about how the scattered seeds mirror the scattering of stars above.
