Spell: Gossip's Apple

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

It's tempting to stir the pot,
especially when we've been hurt or
when someone offends our sensibilities.
Make a gossip's apple to warm
your heart, still your tongue, and protect
you from other wagging tongues!

You will need:
* 1 healing apple
* 3 protective star anises
* A jar or two of gossip-stopping cloves
* 4 straight pins (one for each star anise and one to help with the cloves)

Attach each star anise to the apple by driving a pin through the center of the star and into the apple, and speak the first words of the charm:

"A star of protection shines on me."

Cover the rest of the apple in cloves, leaving no empty space. Pricking the skin of the apple with the remaining straight pin will help the cloves go in easier. As you insert each clove, say:

"A clove for thee, a clove for me."

When you place the last clove, say:

"Silence is golden, so mote it be!"

Keep the apple where you can see and smell it. Pick it up whenever you feel tempted to stir the pot!
