Term: Magician


Magician: One of the trumps of the Major Arcana of the tarot. Numbered I. In the system of Eliphas Levi, it corresponds to the Hebrew letter Aleph. In the system of the Golden Dawn, The Magician corresponds to the Hebrew letter Beth and the planet Mercury.


A magickal practitioner. Also spelled "Magickian, Majikian," etc. A person who practices and performs magic (also spelled "magick"), either for religious or secular purposes.


In the O.T.O., the second degree of the Order. Part of the third or "Man of Earth" Triad.
