Term: Chupacabra

DEFINITION:

First reportedly sighted in Puerto Rico, this mysterious paranormal creature, or cryptid, is so named because it has become known for supposedly drinking the blood of domesticated animals, especially goats. The name is literally Spanish for "goat sucker."

Now believe to roam the US (especially in southern states), Mexico, and Puerto Rico, descriptions of the creature vary. It may have three large teeth, have a line of spikey spines running from its tail up its back to its neck, and be as large as a small bear. A few carcasses of animals have turned up that people claim to have been a chupacabra, but these have been revealed as mistaken identification or fraud.
