Electronic Voice Phenomenon: A spiritual voice that is recorded on tape or disk. Although paranormal investigators may be able to reproduce EVP at sites of hauntings, amateur investigators have had great success in producing such recordings in graveyards. The technique involves using a recorder and microphone turned to maximum recording levels. The result is the recording of wideband noise (often called “white noise” or “pink noise”), which has within it ghostly voices that may be very clear. source: Donald Michael Kraig
