The Llewellyn Encyclopedia

Term: queen

DEFINITIONS

Queen: In the standard Tarot deck, the Queens are one of the four “Court” cards found in each suit of the Minor Arcana. In a reading it indicates a steady, enduring force of the suit that is associated with the meaning of the suit. Thus, the Queen of Wands, related to the element of Fire, indicates your basic driving instinct while the Queen of Cups, associated with the element of Water, is associated with the sources of emotions. It may or may not be related to a person.
