1. Thousand petals. The crown chakra located at the top of the head, which has the potential for a thousand nadis to run energy through it. This is the union point for the kundalini energy from the muladhara that, in enlightenment, ascends and unites with the sahasrara.
2. Sanskrit. "Thousand-petaled." Primarily known as the Crown Chakra. The seventh psychic center is physically indicated by the pineal gland and the cerebral cortex (containing billions of cells or "petals" beyond count). Sahasrara is said to be the dwelling-place of Shiva, the destroyer of ignorance (Maya). This is an esoteric statement conveying the ability of humans to destroy ignorance (Maya) by the use of enlightened consciousness (Shiva), which results from the awakening of Sahasrara chakra. The brain can be thought of as the largest of the body's endocrine glands, with brain chemistry primarily responsible for mood alterations and changes of consciousness
