If you find yourself pondering your life path, or muddled over what you were born to do, exploring the Lunar Nodes can point you in the right direction. Not only can you get an idea of what your future holds, but you can discover your karmic past. In her new book, Lunar Nodes: Discover Your Soul’s Karmic Mission, Celeste Teal helps you to pin point where your lunar north and south nodes are by sign and house position, nodal aspects to your planets, the role of the nodes in your Synastry chart, and what the ‘higher powers’ have in store for you; to name but a few of the book’s features.
Starting off, you will want to locate your north node by astrological sign. The north node will give you a good idea of where you are going in life and provide insights into the purpose in our lives. If your north node is located in Virgo (south node in Pisces), for example, you are emotionally sensitive and tend to put other people’s problems before your own. You have a tendency towards co-dependency and can be a little too superstitious. This is all due to your Pisces south node. The south node indicates what we have been in our karmic past, and thus, issues regarding the south node come easiest to us. We tend to feel more comfortable manifesting the tendencies of our south nodes. For those with a Virgo north node, you should focus on learning to plan and define your goals with practicality while not relying so heavily on the judgment, thoughts, and opinions of others. Also, guard yourself against depressed, hurt, or wounded people who will drain your energy and deplete your life force. You are a very caring individual, and it hurts you to see others suffering. Use the compassion granted by your south node and combine it with the practicality and logic of your north node to help others, and yourself, gain balance.
For those of you with north node in Libra (south node in Aries), you have found much success and self-confidence in your past life. In your past, you were very much concerned with yourself and worked toward your self-interests. Working in your current lifetime with a Libra north node, you are here to take your energetic strength and channel it toward the needs of others. You are used to protecting yourself and have stores of great courage and individuality, but you must learn compromise in your current partnerships. You should not focus on becoming too self-sufficient or completely dependent on another person. Your lesson is moderation and balance in this regard.
More important than the sign of your north node, its house position is the most telling feature. A person with north node in the sixth house, for example, appears as determined, hard working, and career-oriented. Try not to worry so much or let your fears get the best of you. You are very sensitive and intuitive, as in your past life, your focus was on spirituality and seclusion. Your goal in this life is to strive for practicality in everyday matters and to find a balance between your inner spiritual life and what you must accomplish in the real world through helping others.
A north node in the eighth house denotes a talent in the business world and in research and material gain is almost inevitable through your own hard work and talents or that of your partner. You may need financial assistance at some point in your life, and you can either be a spendthrift or stingy. It all depends on your current monetary assets. You are attracted to the metaphysical and occult aspects of life and find richness and meaning in spirituality. In this life your focus should be on gaining all kinds of life experiences while harnessing personal and spiritual strength and control, as in your past you led a life of extreme self-indulgence. You believe that your power comes from your status, but your lesson is to help others realize their worth in their uniqueness. In your life you can be personally reborn.
In terms of nodal aspects, your node in conjunct the Part of Fortune, this bestows luck and protection on the individual. Evel Knievel had this aspect in his natal chart, and Celeste Teal details the gifts and talents that Mr. Knievel and other famous folks, such as Nat King Cole and Fred Astaire, were blessed with given this fortunate aspect. Also, if your north or south nodes are conjunct your Ascendant or Descendant, your life should take on a fated quality. It might seem that every action or situation is significant in terms of your life goals and spiritual meaning; and a north node conjunct the Midheaven is said to be fortunate in terms of career success and public appeal.
Within Teal’s book, you can also explore the Synastry chart. A Synastry chart combines the aspects of you and another person (usually a romantic relationship). One of the most fortunate aspects in Synastry is the Sun conjunct North Node. If you and your partner share this aspect you are new to one another in this lifetime. You are now laying down the groundwork for your future relationship. This aspect is beneficial to each partner’s career. Expansion, joy, creativity, and positive energy will help catapult the partners toward their spiritual, creative, and social ambitions. This is a fated, lifetime connection. This aspect is indicative of a harmonious marriage. But this is merely a taste; Ms. Teal’s book presents much more on the nodal aspects, insights on karmic patterns, and wisdom into the meaning of the Lunar Nodes.
